Like that Corsair. That's the Trumpeter kit, yes? The P-38 looks like the old Revell kit... did you use Eduard stuff in the cockpit?

Yes, the new Trumpeter U bird with some Waldron placards. The 38 is the old Revell with BMF and the Waldron kit.

The cockpits, are those the "detail Sets" that you can buy for your models?

If so, or for those who have used them, are they worth it and how do they fit with the A/C model. Do they need to be the same brand?

P-38 Waldron cockpit set. Very good, but very time consuming. I would say youneed to be at least an advanced modeler to attempt. Lots of little parts and special tools needed.

F4-U Stock Trumpeter cockpit with the Waldron Corsair cockpit placard set.

P-38 kit was about $28, F4-U was about $9

Hmmmm..... I hope to get back to my 1:24 Hobby Craft/Trumpeter P-51D as winter sets in. I bought a Waldron set for it as well. Here is the thing... this is my first model since I was a kid. Yikes.

I would appreciate anything you could share in terms of techniques and tools. Think of my as a dry sponge wait to soak any useful info.

TIA

Mike

Did you buy the Waldron punch and die set? You will need one. A lighted magnifying glass will help alot to. There are (obviously lots of 3D parts to make out of 2D foil. Lots of bending and cutting. A good set of hemostats and smaller needle nose pliers will help with the bending. A good CA glue will be needed. The directions are a bit vague at times and alot of trial and error is needed to complete the set. I worked on it for months, and it still has areas that I can improve on.
