The kit is by ARII out of Japan. I've had this kit for about one or two years now and here she is my first build of 2012.

This aircraft I found unique as it is an early P-51D which not many are being built and the U.S. 4th Fighter Group is my favorite group of WWII. This particular aircraft was lost on September 9th, 1944 in a mid-air collision with Lt. Gillette's A/C. Capt. Joseph L. Lang was K.I.A. on October 14, 1944 in another A/C during a shuttle mission.

I decided to make this a surprise reveal as not many were following the build thread. I hope you all enjoy this piece,as I do, as I'm VERY pleased with the results. This is a straight OOB build... it was a great kit, no great detail to the interior but, the exterior was done very nicely. The overall fit of parts was good, very little difficulty in the build of this kit.

Very nice, and I like the book as a display platform. I assume you used that intentionally and only for the pics?

Nicely done and I admire your choice to do all the stripes by hand and not use sheet decals, it looks like it should, not like a show car. :supz: :supz:

Thanks for all the kind words guys. :) Thanks Inspector... yes, I always do my stripes by hand... I like to recreate the way they actually applied them, not perfect like a lot of other modellers do. I'm on the "BritModelers" forum and those guys are not only over-anal on kits but LOVE to dirty them up as much as possible and these aircraft were taken FAR better care of then they depict through their kits.

Several do very nice work but, most of them go overboard.

This is sooo awesome!!!! Great build, especially with my current project, that I just posted. I am certain that the two aircraft are being depicted in nearly the same space in time. And....I just received that exact book this week, though not a whole bunch of help with my build, the photos and info are great in it.

Too Kool!!!
