I have this toy of a Douglas D-558-1 Skystreak. It appears to have been a toy that "flies" on a wire or string running through the fuselage, nose to tail. it has a metal fitting on the bottom where some type of propulsion system must have been attached. No markings what so ever are on the model to show manufacturer, date or anything else. It's about 10 inches long. It's not a model kit that I can see since the basic aircraft is only made up of the two fuselage/wing halves, and the canopy. ![]() ![]() Any thoughts as to who made this? Jerry |

When is very young in the 60's my mom had a jet motor, called JETEX. Your plane looks like it may have used a similar engine. JOHN http://www.jetex.org/motors/motors-jetex.html |

It's so well scaled and detailed, I wonder if it wasn't molded from a metal 'presentation' desk model it might be a 'one off' done by some enterprising Dad for his son. |

This model was put out by the Allyn company in the 1950's. It was a desk model put out as a kit. Kit number was #800 with motor and #900 without motor. The model is 1/48th scale. |

Cool info! Thanks. What kind of motor powered it? Was it like the Jetex engines or was it something like CO2? Jerry |
