Post subject:  ?Mesh screening for F4U-4 engine air intakes

I want to add the ductwork below the R-2800 18W in my F4U-4 model, either showing it in place below engine or have ducting on ground in front of plane. I need to know if the intake trunking behind the accessory section firewall had screening or was the engine cowling lip completely open with no filter? Is there a drawing showing how carb ducting was run for a -4? What is the best thing to use for the mesh? A little off topic, what would work best for the intake screening of a 1/48 MV-22 Osprey? I'm building Prototype #4.
