It has a little, tiny Walrus on it, and one in the hanger, so I thought I could get away with it!!! It is Airfix's 1:600 HMS Belfast. Pretty small, not much over a foot long. It is my first proper model for about 20 years, and my first ship for longer than that (I am 37 now!) I built it for my girlfriends father's birthday. He served on destroyers in the Royal Navy WW2, and has shared some of his memories and pictures with me, for which I am eternally grateful. It is built straight from the box, and brush painted with acrylics (a first first for me - took a bit of getting used to!) I may have caught the bug again! I can only improve I suppose!

Beautiful job. I built ships as a young lad as well. Started out with aircraft, then tanks, then ships, then blew up all of my ships and tanks and went back to aircraft! Just built a 1972 1/48 scale Spitfire. Awesome kit i had leftover from my childhood. I have about 30 more kits in storage I hope to build side by side with my sons. Teaches them patience.., among other attributes. My wife thinks I am turning him into a 'GEEK'.., but so far we have only built one model.., the next one is a 1969 Aurora B-29. Soooo looking forward to that puppy!!

Great job.., keep up the good work!

Cheers,

Smiz

Love your statement 'I can only improve I suppose' I've been telling myself that every time I finish a kit (and that covers 55 years starting with a GOWLAND STUDIOS-REVELL Stanley Steamer kit in bright red @age 7) and that's a pile 'o' kits.
You've done a magnificent job on a hard subject, nothing at all to diminish yourself over-put a clear plexiglas cover over it before it disappears in a forest of dust and pet hairs!
