I just found a Corgi 1/72 scale B-17 and I'd like to display it in a clear case. I have searched the internet for the better part of two hours but have found nothing. The case would have to be I'd think no smaller than 14X18X5 inches.
Does anyone make one that size that is clear plastic? :|
I would really like to get this bird out of the box:

The only commerically available "off the shelf" model display cases I've seen aren't nearly big enough. I think you'll either have to have one custom made, or make one yourself.

Thanks, Drew! That second one has a listing for a box in the size I need... But given the costs of these, I'm really wondering if I'd done a sane thing by buying this. I had intended to put it in a case but the model itself was not cheap (even on sale), and would be made far more expensive with a box for it...

What if you have 5 pieces of glass cut, and then silicone them together?

That's a good idea, but I'd look at Lexan at Home depot like $20-$30 for a large sheet. Lighter and easier to work with.

Hmm, that’s not a bad idea…

Head on down to HOME DEPOT AEROSPACE and pick up a 1/2 or 1/4 sheet of plexiglas or lexan, surely you or a neighbor has a quality table saw. Do your layout, cut the pieces with a 45 bevel and VERY CAREFULLY superglue or TENAX the pieces together-VIOLA! and done on the cheap-

I wouldn't use superglue..it might fog the lexan. A solvent-type glue would give a better bond anyway.

Here's a case I made a number of years ago. If memory serves I went to a trophy shop for the base and the rest was constructed of Lexan. The shelf is made of 1/8" glass supported by wooden dowel posts. I forget the adhesive I used, but it wasn't Superglue because of the crazing effect. This one cost me around twenty bucks as I remember.

Maybe I have found what I seek. http://www.wholesale-store-fixtures.com ... _cubes.htm I just wish they made them in a shorter size as cutting one down would darned near impossible without messing up the bottom edge. I also found what appears to be a outfit just a cheap: http://www.displaycaseart.com/acrylicboxes.html Maybe I could rise it up on a high base with something along the edge of that base, like photos, patches or something?

If you have a TAP PLASTICS, near you, try them. Some prices are not bad for the plastic part.
