Few days before I have received scale model of Panther, manufacturer is Monogram. I love this plane very much and after many years I finally have one kit. I would like to know did any other made this plane in 1/48 scale or this is the only one kit in that scale on market? Cheers

Hawk made an old Panther kit in 1/48th. It was good for the time but probably outdated now. It was current in the 60s and later came in a drone version. Even older is a 1/49th (or so the kit guides say) Aurora Panther. It dates from the early 50s and probably has a dozen parts. More of a collectors item nowdays...still if you're into Panters, a set of all three might be fun to show not only the plane, but the progression of models over the years. You can find some at : www.oldmodelkits.com I don't work for them, so this isn't a commercial, but it's a fun site to look at old kits. |

Trumpeter/ Hobbycraft make a brand new mold. It's typical of recent releases- lots of recessed rivet detail (which in my opinion looks EXTREMELY unrealistic), and posable control surfaces. It's also about twice the cost of the Monogram kit. This is fine and for sure I will keep my focus on this Monogram kit. Only I will make additional search for the some detail sets for this kit. Cheers
