Last week our model club auctioned off some old kits from our club raffle box..I picked up a 1/144 P-47 for 50 cents, and thought it might make a neat Christmas ornament. The kit was a peice of crap, but after a lot of sanding and a few coats of Tamiya silver lacquer spray, it looked OK. Fortunately the decals were very nice, and surprisingly accurate.

I thought my Jug needed a playmate, and I remembered I had a Sweet 1/144 Bf-109F (Winter Version.) These kits live up to their name..the fit and detail is incredible! I was a little reluctant to put something with a swastika on my Christmas tree, but one of the eight (!) markings options included in the kit was this appropriately festive Hungarian scheme in winter whitewash.

Now the two are fighting it out amongst the branches of the tree!

Merry Christmas!

Looks good, I like little kits for ornaments. Mostly I just like little kits.

Having produced a few kits, our tree has more toys on it than under it.

1/144 is the way to go!!!! 8) Did that for a bunch a years when I was younger. If you came over to our house for Christmas you'd find a P-40, Corsair, B-25, Zero, Hurricane and a ton of other goodies flyin around the tree. Good idea Steve and your right. That model of the 47 is a piece of crap.

Now if you wanted a good 1/144 example:

Now all you need to do is add a little cotton to the tree and you have yourself one heck of a diorama!!

Good work! I don't know how anyone can assemble such small models! My fingers are too big and clumsy even for 1/48th sometimes. Speaking of which maybe I should finish that Skyraider I started 4 years ago...
