I have just picked up a A-26C Invader model and I have hear rumours that they where used in the Pacific at the end of the war. I have googled and googled and apart from hints the only web site that mentions them is dead. Does anybody know anything about these aircraft in the pacific in particular colour schemes or profiles. Regards Tim |

Hi Tim: Actually the Pima Air Museum had a very rough A-26B with "Grim Reapers" markings. They said the markings were original. You might want to call them and ask for photos. I believe the Grim Reapers were in New Guinea, and moved elsewhere by the time the A-26's arrived. Also according to the book "Pacific War Eagles" by Jeff Ethell and Warren Bodie, the 341st bomb group had A-26s in Fenny, India in August 1945. Evidently, 100 arrived right before the end of the war, and weren't flown in combat with this Bomb Group. |
