yah.., I was not going to mention that part of it.., when I was building the Aurora B-29 and the Revell 1:48 scale Spitfire (1973) with my son, I kept having to hold the darn pilot figure way out to see to paint him. Next time I am pulling out the magnifying glass..that is honestly the first model I had attempted in over 25 years. :(

I glued my fingers more than the model, and don't get me started on paint! :drink3:

Remember the MONOGRAM 'Ready Fliers' that were mostly pre finished balsa?
And that's the B-36 kit, I think it was 29 cents

I work in 1/72, and even bifocals aren't enough. When modeling I have to wear an OptiVisor pretty much all the time now.

This little puppy!!

I'm actually working on a B-36 right now. I have the 1/72 Monogram monstrosity, but I'd have no place to put it, so I compromised and went with the Hobbycraft 1/144 kit. It's still larger than a 1/72 B-17, so I'm not sure where I'll stick the thing once it's done.

Speaking of the old Revell B-24, I had that one too. Of course now I can't help but chuckle at the box art, which shows the Blue Streak bombing the Ploesti refineries, but wearting the markings she carried after returning to the States for a War Bond tour (some of which commemorated the Ploesti raid!)
