You have made very good thing when you have visit his family. Pity to hear that he did not have any of wartime images of his Hellcat. maybe you could make some analogy with the unit he flew. In general pilots are rotating and flew on few different of airplanes, depent of which one is available in moment. But maybe this could not be solution for your problem.

Matt's correct .Those colors on the Lonestar plane would only say shoot me down first,bright.
Your model looks good and after seeing it built I think I will get one myself.

Glad that you like model. One update- this kit will be published in German magazine "Jets und Props" as short review and full article will going in one UK modeling magazine. I have allready forwarded some sixty images of model and twenty color profiles of the airplane.
