Hi Guys.

I am looking for a set of decals for a B-29, which I "think" is either a 1/48 or 1/72 scale. Now, why would I ask if you for this if it were just a simple plastic model. Well, it isn't. This a maple wood model that built in my youth from a kit my father had had for MANY years prior. I also would like to get a set of prop's for it as it never had any and basically, this model is alot older than I am, it's made of wood, and I think it is time to "put it back in the hangar" for a cosmetic restoration, new paint, new stars and bar.

Any help would be deeply appreciated.

Respectfully,

Paul

Your best bet for B-29 decals would be ebay. I checked a couple of online hobby shops and they don't have any. As for props there was only one company that made some aftermarket ones and there no longer in business.

How big is the wooden model? 1/48 scale would have the wings around 30+ inches.

A quick search of the Hannants website lists several options (Aeromaster, Kits At War, Superscale). What about Squadron or Roll Models, would they carry similar decals?

Here's 2 places you can get what you are looking for...
Cajun RC Specialties has lots of markings available in many sizes and he can also do custom work if you send him a picture or design. He also has pilots in various scales.

Get Stencils is just what it sounds like. He can reproduce pretty much anything you like and design the stecil kit to make sure you get the results you want.

Don't forget to check with Tamiya or the other big plastic model makers as they often have nice things like that as well.

There are generic "stars and bars" decal sheets available. I guess it depends on how detailed the markings on the model are, or how detailed you want them to be. I always got mine from Squadron, they have, or had, sheets with many different sizes.

As for the props, figure out the size of the ones you need and get the closest matching kit.

Really old kits, like the one you describe, could be just about any scale.

Here is a nifty program I have used for years (I am a masochist, I do a lot of scratch building) to determine scale:

Easy to use once you play with it for a while.

Oh, and Squadrons website:
