Need B-1B, B-52 help AND ideas on a large tarmac diorama

Sat Mar 13, 2010 11:58 pm

The Wendover Museum has had several large scale model bombers donated to us and I ma putting together a "evolution of the Heavy Bomber" display together.

A couple of the models were donated after the builder had no toher options but to get rid of them. They are in great shape but missing a few pieces. The B-52 is a large scale - the Monogram 1/72 kit. sadly, it is missing the wing spoilers - anyone out there that has a extra set they are willing to part with??

The B-1B is also a large scale - 1/48th Revell kit - and dangit - the radome is missing - but it was donated, so I am once again hoping to find a radome out there looking for a good home :D

Lastly, as you can tell I have a few big models - plus a large "Silverplate" B-29, B-17 and B-24. I would like them all to be sitting on a "concrete" ramp. Do any of you have any suggestions for how best to get a simulated concrete surface onto plywood?

Thanks,

Tom P.

I've always had good luck using a thin layer of wall spackle. Airbrush the desired color and weather.

There are some tarmac pointers in the "Tools & Tips" section of ARC. http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/

I believe the Revell B-1 is back on the market so you should be able to get a replacement part from them. I've had great service from them for things like this.

If you have the part number and kit number they usually like that but if not a description will usually do the trick.
