Grumman Panther 1/48

Thu Sep 10, 2009 12:59 am

Few days before I have received scale model of Panther, manufacturer is Monogram. I love this plane very much and after many years I finally have one kit. I would like to know did any other made this plane in 1/48 scale or this is the only one kit in that scale on market?

Cheers :P

Hawk made an old Panther kit in 1/48th.
It was good for the time but probably outdated now. It was current in the 60s and later came in a drone version.

Even older is a 1/49th (or so the kit guides say) Aurora Panther. It dates from the early 50s and probably has a dozen parts.
More of a collectors item nowdays...still if you're into Panters, a set of all three might be fun to show not only the plane, but the progression of models over the years.

You can find some at :

I don't work for them, so this isn't a commercial, but it's a fun site to look at old kits.

Trumpeter/ Hobbycraft make a brand new mold. It's typical of recent releases- lots of recessed rivet detail (which in my opinion looks EXTREMELY unrealistic), and posable control surfaces. It's also about twice the cost of the Monogram kit. Here's a few link to a review:

And a preview:

Hope this helps.

This is fine and for sure I will keep my focus on this Monogram kit. Only I will make additional search for the some detail sets for this kit.

Cheers :D
