Northrop A-17

Wed Dec 13, 2006 10:35 am

Kit: MPM 1/72.

This is the Northrop A-17 light attack bomber. These early versions were in active service defending the Canal Zone during the early part of the war. There is also an A-17A version that had retractable landing. But I decided to do the strait version since it had a more attractive paint scheme.

Enjoy!

Nathan--

Cool...You might be interested to know that Canada had a small number of these Northrops; we used them as target tugs, they were known as the Northrop Nomad in the RCAF. I think the Norwegian AF in exile (based in Ontario during the war years) also had some 8As/A-17As. Unfortunately none of these have survived, but one A-17A exists on display at NMUSAF. I've got an old photo of an RCAF Nomad somewhere; someday I'll figure out a way of posting it...
