Post subject:  Mystery Helmet !

I posted this to WIX a while ago looking for help identifying this helmet but had no luck and I'm still no further ahead figuring out what it is. If anyone knows what kind of helmet this is or if you can provide me with any info on it, I'd appreciate it. If you need more info or photos let me know.

Thanks much!

Brain;
Can you post a back side image?
I'm interested in the straps that attach from the front to the back.

Brian;
That helps a bit, but I 'm still not too sure about it.
It's obviously of British/Canadian origin due to the styling.
I know the UK countrois used cloth helmets in WWII, but I believe they were Tan in color.

I'm leaning towards a post WWII helmet for use in jets, perhaps with a second part that was a hard shell, or used by itself.

It might be a set-up similar to the Korean War vinatge H-4 U.S. Navy helmet.
Cloth flying helmet that was then coverd by a gold, hard shell.

I'll keep looking. The fun is in the hunt!

I was pointed to this site which has a bit of info on the helmet. http://www.redpilot.com/museum/helmets/cloth/clhelmet2.html.

The make and model still seems to be a bit of a mystery but it looks like it's a post WWII Russia copy of a German designed helmet.

The search for info continues!

Post subject:  Helment

I don't know much about helments, but it doesn't look like some of the WWII Am or Br I've seen. Maybe Russian, or could it be a tank helment. With the big earcups it is probabably designed for hearing protection such as when a tank fires, but the soft surface indicates it doesn't have impact protection like a jet era one, and I don't see any conections for an oxygen mask.

Brian,

Are there any markings on the throat mike or back of the earphones?
What type connections, how many pins, etc?

Bill
