I'm looking for plans for a Thompson SMG, especially the butt stock and the flat wooden handle under the barrel.

I have a replica Chicago Piano Thompson and I want to transform it into something more WW2-esque.

The M1928A1 that was used in WW2 was nearly identical to the commercial versions you are talking about. The foregrip merely unscrewed and could be replaced by the horizontal one. The butt stock should be the same.

The M1 and M1A1 had different shaped receivers and the bolt handle on the side (and they operated quite a bit differently). They didn't come into service until late in the war.

The one I have is non-firing, and I want to make it look a bit more WWII so it will fit in our M38's carbine holder.

There was a place in New York called "Gun Parts" or something but they changed there name a few years back. They had a huge selection of parts (go figure). I can’t find the link to the new on line site but I’m sure they would have everything you needed. I’ll check a bit later to see if I can find it and I’ll post it. If you’re heading to Geneseo or Thunder I might be able to work with you on that. If it’s just wood pieces it might be easier than trying to get it shipped.

I would hate to be accused of helping a Quebec Separatist group or something.

I've bouhgt several things from then and I was very happy with the new stcok I picked up for my M1.

Why make it look like an M1A1........?

M1928's were used throughout WW2.

Does your replica 'Chicgo Piano' have the drum mag and vertical pistol foregrip and no Cutts compensator...i.e is it a faithfull replica of a M1921....?

A M1A1 is so completely different that I'd say you'll be making completely from scratch in reality rather than converting.
