5Gal Military Gas Can Spanner Wrench

I use these cans and wanted to ask what does/did the military use to open them and put the spout on with? I use channel locks.

I would think a Ford wrench as all the boxes had them in them at that time.

They also work for "aircraft protection", I cornered a "bad guy" during an exercise and he was REALLY scared I was going to use my big ford wrench on his mellon. ( I thought about it ) LOL
