Been a bit of a Warbirds and Classics fan for many years, some of those I have bumped into. There is an ex south American based Catalina being restored at the old RAAF base at Rathmines on the east coast of Australia, these pic's from my first visit. ![]() ![]() In 1942 the Japanese attacked a number of moored flying boats carrying evacuess from Java, the remains of a RAF Catalina at Roebuck Bay, Western Australia . ![]() A boat that flies with the remains of a flying boat. ![]() Photo taken not long after the time of the raid, burning Catalinas, Dorniers and Empire Class boats on Roebuck Bay with the town of Broome in the back ground. ![]() Maintaining the feline theme the Catalina displayed at the Aviation museum at Bull Creek, Perth, Western Australia. ![]() Bull Creeks Lancaster nose art. ![]() Percival Proctor. ![]() Australian made CAC Wirraway. ![]() Another local job, Wackett trainer. ![]() One of my personal favourites the ex RAAF Spitfire MkV trop housed at the South Australian Aviation museum. ![]() Very authentic static restoration has every correct part as per a wartime machine, only missing the parachute flare set up, if anyone knows where one is please contact me. ![]() Has a zero timed, apart from factory run, engine fitted. ![]() As found in the 1970s. ![]() The museum is also restoring a Fairy Battle recovered from the sea. ![]() Another South Australian static restoration. ![]() ![]() More soon............ |

Been a bit slack updating this thread couple of rareities recently have got me fired up! Australian designed and built Yeoman Cropmaster. April 1st 2022, in and out for fuel, originally designed to be a military trainer, ferry flight from New Zealand to Australia. So lucky with this one got down when she was due on Flightaware, half an hour staring out to sea, no patience so high tailed it over the the re fueler to see if he knew when she was due, heypressto! Not the best angle of her coming in but beggars can’t be choosers I guess. ![]() This one may well be up there with one of my rarest spots, only airworthy Yeoman in the world of very few that still exist, I believe, happy to be corrected if incorrect? ![]() ![]() Love the starburst scheme. ![]() Ag aeroplanes never get a looker tag, this thing isn’t so bad from some angles. ![]() ![]() Beauty in the eye of the beholder. ![]() 8th April 2022, Lockheed 12A overnighted for fuel, on her way from Australia to a new owner in New Zealand. Low cloud and rain so not the best conditions. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The flat light makes her pop a little I think, threw in a black and white for good measure. ![]() More from the next morning, up with the lark to see the Lockeed 12 off, much nicer day, aiming to be in Auckland via Norfolk Island. http://www.aussieairliners.org/L-10%20e ... vhhid.html ![]() ![]() Crew Doug Hamilton and Stephen Death. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
