Post subject:  Air Heritage: Aviation Appreciation Day Fly-in, Western PA

Just wanted to let those in the area know about Air Heritage's Annual Aviation Appreciation Day Fly-in, Car Cruise and Craft show that will be taking place this year on August 23rd, 2014. It will be our eighth year having it.

It opens to the public at 9AM and goes until 5PM. Breakfast will be available during the morning with lunch taking over around 11:30AM.

All of our aircraft at the museum will be on display including our C-123K Provider, Thunder Pig, as well as our C-47, Luck of the Irish. You will be able to see all of our aircraft in restoration as well.

Many other aircraft will be on display as well. These aircraft will include other aircraft based on the field or aircraft that have flown in from around the area. We have paved parking for approximately 12 aircraft and grass parking for a further 20 or so. More paved parking is available, however it is a further walk to the event then the grass option.

One specific aircraft that will be of great interest to many here will be a Full scale replica Spitfire currently being built inside Air Heritage by one of our members. Made of wood but powered by an Allison V-12, it will have nearly the same power as a real spitfire but at half the weight.

Also going on will be a car show. Last year we had over 500 cars pass through throughout the day with over 100 cars parked at any given time. We always have a great turnout in cars and this year should be even better.

New to this year is the craft show. In an attempt to draw more women to our event who don't necessarily find Aviation and Cars enjoyable, we have added something for them to do while their husbands and/or children tour throughout the vehicles. We have spots for up to 100 Crafters/Vendors, but total crafter attendance won't be known until closer to the event.

If anyone is interested in flying in post a reply and I will give you more information on the specifics.
I will also make posts as new information becomes available.

Hope to see some of you guys there this year. I did meet a fellow wixer there last year, however it can not remember who it was.
