Looks like BK and I are going to head up to Louisville next weekend to finally see an F-22 fly. If you've been before, do you have any tips for first-timers? Prime viewing locations? Parking?

Thanks in advance.

Dave

If you watch from the Louisville side, keep in mind that the closer you park to the river, the harder it may be to get out after the show since thousands of people will be walking out. Besides, the further away you park, the less the lots charge. As far as viewing is concerned, avoid The Great Lawn, as that is "the place" and is super crowded. When we sit on that side, we usually find a spot beside Joe's Crab Shack. One problem there is that as it gets crowded towards the evening, it gets packed and people walk right in front of you and often step on other people's blankets and whatnot . But it's close to several porta-jons and concessions.
Last year we chose the Jeffersonville side. Lots of good parking fairly close to the river. We got down there around noon and there was plenty of decent seating available. I'm not a photographer per se, but from what I've read on this site over the years, they say it's the better side for good pics. Only problem we had was leaving. The ISP keeps the traffic moving, even if it means not letting anyone turn onto the street that their motel is on. We drove around for quite a while before we could finally convince a trooper to let us get back to ours.

Thanks for the advice. I am leaning towards the Indiana side of things based on your comments and others I've gleaned from various places. I could give a rip about fireworks and want to see an F-22, dangit! I'm sure we'll be on our way out of there before the first rocket glares red.
