Hi everyone,

sorry for the short notice, but the Canadian Museum of Flight is holding its second annual "Round Engine Round-up today (Saturday May 23rd, 2009).

What: Radial Engine Gathering, Canadian Centennial of Flight Celebrations, Hangar Dinner & Dance
Where: Canadian Museum of Flight hangar, Langley Airport, BC
When: Saturday May 23rd... ALL DAY
Why: Just for the sake of having a good time!

It is an open fly-in and anyone can attend. If you're coming from the USA by air you'll need to clear customs at either Boundary Bay Airport, or Abbotsford Airport (I'd suggest Abbotsford).

This event will also be in conjunction with the Canadian Centennial of Flight celebrations. The CMF's Harvard will be leaving Comox, BC this morning carrying a mailbag with stamps, postcards, and commemorative coins, and going down to Victoria to meet up with the CMF's Tiger Moth. From there the Tiger Moth will carry the mailbag across the pond and arrive at Langley Airport around 1:30pm. As the Moth and Harvard get closer to Langley other CMF aircraft as well as the Fraser Blues (Navion formation team) will meet up with them and escort them in for landing.

Later in the day (or possibly on Sunday), the CMF's Waco AQC-6 will be leaving to take the mailbag across the Rocky Mountains and into Nanton, Alberta. This relay will continue across Canada to Baddeck, Nova Scotia where the first powered flight in Canada occurred.

Back to Langley though... The Round Engine Round Up will continue into the evening with a dinner dance including a live orchestra playing some great big band style music. Tickets for that are $35. I'm not sure, but there may still be room if some people want to attend.

Again sorry for the short notice, but if there's anyone in the Vancouver/Langley area we'd love to see you come out and enjoy the sounds of those old round engines!

See you there,

David McIntosh

P.S. If any WIX'ers are there give me a call 778-835-2038
