DENVER -- Denver International and Front Range airports have canceled the previously scheduled air show, which included performances by the U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels aerobatic flight team and other air show performers.

The air show was to take place this summer at Front Range Airport as part of the facility’s 25th anniversary.

Airport officials said they made the decision to cancel the performance after determining the negative impact on commercial air traffic to and from adjacent Denver International Airport was no longer acceptable.

"It was determined that the resulting flight delays and cancellations would cost DIA’s airlines hundreds of thousands of dollars, and adversely impact tens of thousands of passengers," said Kim Day, the manager at Denver Interntional Airport. "We have looked at a number of alternatives in an effort to find a way to make this happen, but the impact is far too immense at this time."

Was very sad to see this on 9 news...was looking forward to it for quite a while. Still excited about the KBJC show in August...my first airshow volunteer experience! I'm coordinating a/c juding. If there are any homebuilders or A&P types that would be interested in helping out with the juding, shoot me a PM please.

Hey Scott, I am not sure if the Fury or Mustang will be there. Joe has had the Mustang out there for the last 3 years. I hope he has it there again this year. I ask my friend John.
