Just thought I'd let everyone know that the museum will be holding it's annual Flyfest on Father's Day weekend (June 14 and 15). This year celebrates the 20th anniversary of the Lancaster's post resotration flight, so look for special things to celebrate that. There will be aircraft present from both Vintage Wings of Canada as well as the Russell Group, and possibly others. The Russell Group is having their air show the same weekend, this works out well as there is the posibility aircraft performing at his show may do a flyby due to the short distance between fields. This also works out well because the people who come to the area to see Russell's show can come to Hamilton the next day! (Hint hint, nudge nudge, know what I mean... [hope there are at least some monty python fans here]) The museum also plans to perform engine runs and taxi the Lysander.

Member rides will be available on the Flyfest weekend as well, for existing and new members, just like last year. Information regarding membership options can be found here http://www.warplane.com/pages/membership.html

There have been many changes around the museum lately, and more to come, things are looking up, come out and be a part of it! Also, Chipmunk C-FPOW has rejoined the collection, and a new Stearman is due to arrive at any time.

If you were at Flyfest last year and were impressed, be sure to come out this year as well, because it should be even better! I have been with CWH for 10 years now, and it's never been as exciting as it is now. If you're there say Hi, as I'll be there all weekend, I don't know exactly what I'll be doing at this point, other than having fun.

Looking forward to attending both Flyfest and Russell group events this year...I enjoyed the CWH last year and thought this would be great opp to drop by the Russel's this year on the Sunday..

Nice to hear that Vintage Wings might drop by again. Their F4-D Corsair was quite the treat last year. Perhaps the FG-1D will do the honours this year... :D

Right now I believe they are bringing the Spit and Hurricaine, but my memory could be wrong, God knows it has been before!

Well you can't go wrong with that classic couple. Will be very nice regardless of what turns up.

Will the program be similar to last year's event? I know last year they moved the crowd back towards to the hangar doors abit to allow easy access/exiting for the active aircraft.

I don't know that yet, but if I had to guess I'd say it will be a similar layout to last year.

Well I'm afraid I don't know of any other aircraft scheduled to attend other than those advertised, however this will certainly be a fun event that I'd reccomend anyone in the area should come to.

The Lanc will fly in formation with a Spitfire, Hurricaine and Me-109 from the Russell Group, as well as a Spitfire and Hurricaine from Vintage Wings of Canada. I can't say I've ever had the chance to see such a formation in person (too young to remember the airshows of the 70's and 80's, being born in 87).

Hope everyone can make it, memberships and members flights will be sold in various aircraft.

Greg et al--

Going to try a "cut-and-paste" here, direct from one of the CWHers via email...if the weather cooperates this will be a really terrific event!

After a slow start to the 2008 flying season, it appears almost every currently flyable CWH aircraft (except the PBY) will take to the air at some point during the Flyfest weekend. The PBY is expected to fly again later in the season. Scheduled to arrrive at CWH Thursday around 3 pm from Vintage Wings is their Spitfire, Hurricane and Harvard plus hopefully the CWH Firefly that is still there from a visit this past weekend. Vintage Wings aircraft will operate from CWH all weekend. Scheduled to arrive at CWH from the Russell Group on Friday morning is their Me109, Hurricane and Spitfire. A photo shoot is scheduled at 1 pm Friday of a formation of the Lanc, 2 Hurris, 2 Spits and 109 using the B-25 as photo ship. I understand there will be 3 photographers on board including Rick Radell and Eric Dumigan. The Russell Group aircraft will return to Niagara Falls and return to CWH on the weekend each day around noon for an hour or so. In addition to the visiting Avenger that is scheduled to fly this weekend, there will be some other visiting aircraft including Rick Rickard's beautifully restored Stampe.

...Well look at that, it worked! BTW, I can confirm that the "new" Stearman, C-GPTD, has arrived, as has Chipmunk C-FPOW. The mentioned Avenger is the Tinker aircraft "Ida Red", which is at CWH care of Glenn Goldman. (Canucks, don't mention to Glenn the idea of painting the TBM blue with roundels; it gets him all testy...)
