Looking for an Air Show on Easter?

One of the world's largest collections of aircraft from the First World War will take to the skies this Easter over Blenheim, New Zealand. The biennial Classic Fighters Air Show which opens at the Omaka aerodrome on Friday and runs until Sunday, features a dozen aircraft engaging in dogfights.

According to Radio New Zealand, Fokker tri-planes and a Sopwith Camel, owned by the film-maker Peter Jackson, are expected to star at the event. Organizers expect 25,000 - 40,000 people to attend over the three-days of flying. "A viation and the Movies" is the weekend's theme, with re-enactments from war movie classics Battle of Britain, A Bridge Too Far, Tora! Tora! Tora! and Apocalypse Now.

The air show has great economic importance to the country. The 2003 event contributed to an estimated $15-18 million spike in local transactions over the Easter weekend.
