I was fortunate to be one of the 14 people who flew out to Oshkosh in one of Taigh Ramey's pair of Beech C-45's. We had a great week and a real adventure getting there & back. Nice bunch of folks and a well executed venture. One of the highlights was having a neighbor out in nearby Omro where we were staying make an emergency air drop of toilet paper after we'd notified the owner that the house was low when we got there! 3 passes in his Ag-Cat did the trick.
Another was having a large turnout of Filmore, Utah residients come out to the airport last night after we landed for gas. There was a local power outage that shut off the gas pumps and they were concerned for our well being while waiting there. Some went back home & brought back ice and cold water for us while the sheriff even offered to BBQ some hot dogs while we waited. After a wait, power was restored, we took on several hundred gallons of gas @ around $4.50 a gallon then took off with many of the folks still there to see us off.
