Today is still technically a set-up day, but we did get a P-40 and C-47 an L-bird and a Fairchild 24. Everything else should show tomorrow. Friday is the "real" arrival day.

Hello from MAAM,

Just got home from by far the busiest Thursday Set Up Day we've ever had!! Had to remind myself all day that TOMORROW is Friday and not Saturday. Hundreds of re-enactors are on the field, the encampment is larger than ever. Yankee's B17 has been here since Tuesday giving rides. Dan Dameo brought the P-40 in today. The C-47 has also arrived, as well as a few L-birds and Mike Strieder's (sorry for the spelling) Fairchilld 24. Friday is the big aircraft arrival day. Even today the field had a different look to it with the new layout. Here's hoping for good weather!!

Sorry, no pics, the few I got were of the 61, finally turned right side out of its corner...

T.J.

krlang,

I like the C-54 pic... are you flying into Kutztown? Its a great little airport, I'm one of the tow pilots there... The airport gets a lot of transient parking going to the diner, to bad he owns the land the airport sits on and wants to turn it into a a)walmart b)college dorms, c)more trailer park d)all of the above. Its a great old time airport, I hope it stays...

Well,

Here we are, settling in our hotel room in NJ after the ride from hell.
We left Reading at 1PM, stopped in Kutztown for lunch. We never made it there for breakfast.
We got stuck in a road closure in Allentown after lunch, 1 hour and 20 minutes to go 1.5 miles. Then another hour to get back to the highway.

We bailed just after the candy drop at 12:30. It had just started raining and alot of the pilots decided to ge out early. We did the same.

We saw the Duffy airplanes leave together, the TBM was still having hydraulic problems, the RH main was hanging a bit after they left.
Kevin Russo! Smoked out the ramp and the runway upon his departure.
Nice job Kev!
Chris, Bob, Dan and Jimmy decided to bail early too and get back to LI.
The pilot of the hurricane gave us a nice pass before departing to the north also.

Once again Reading loses a half a weekend days turnout due to rain.
Somebody get them on the good side of the weather for a full weekend!
They're predicting TSTMS for Sat. & Sun. This is gettin' pretty old. If the show gets rained out again this year, it'll be our last visit. It's a "nice" show but not a "great" show. It's definitely not one that we're gonna' put up with ugly weather to go to.

Mudge the selective.
I'm finally coming out of "lurk mode" to let you know it was a real pleasure to meet you and the delightful Mrs. Mudge in the MAAM hangar. Finally I get to see how nice these WIX folks really are. And I am happy you had no rain. I wish perfect flying weather for you this week! And I just loved WWII Weekend, it was my first time - and I regularly do air shows with Yankee Air Museum. Again, Mudge, it was a pleasure and once I find out how to post photos, I'll put up some of my artwork and MAAM photos.

C5Bgal (Linda the Dog Tag Lady) the very impressed :drink3:
