The DFW wing of the CAF will have its annual event on September 5th. Ole' 927 is schedule to be there along with many other Warbirds. Maybe ZTEX or one the other local Wixers can get a poster scanned to displayed here. This is a must attend event. I'll look for you all there....

Sounds like a grand time! (Don't they know that it's still HTH in September?)
:)

I will be on the look out for a flyer to post.

100% chance that the Mi-24D, Mi-2, MiG-21, MiG-23, and Elka (L-29, L-39) will be on display.

99% chance that the Mi-2 will be flying that day.

90% chance that the Mi-24D will have the rotors turned.

Will probably take the L-39s and/or L-29s up to make noise.

Actually FLYING the Mi-24 depends on FAA paperwork. It's ready and it's airworthy, but I don't have paperwork to that effect yet. :-)

By "rotors turned" I mean started and taxied, space permitting... the Hind makes a LOT of rotor wash.

But just starting it is exciting!

You all were working hard Saturday as the hangars doors were open and one of the L-39 was in the air. I'm looking forward to the chance to see them fly....

Also, the B-24A will be at Lancaster on the 5th if enough people sign up for rides.

You can pre-book a ride by going to http://www.cafb29b24.org.

I am going to do it!

As I recall, the 2007 Warbirds On Parade was the last air show that we took Chuckie to before we parked her in the hangar for maintenance. I also recall that we had a great time, and I got to meet WIXers Steve Dickey and Lynn Allen.

Here are a couple of shots from our visit:

Here's are two shots of us in flight on the way home. . .

Wish I could attend this year's show, but I'm going to be boarding a cruise ship in Port Canaveral that same morning. . . 8)

The Mi-2 flew today as Kevin from Houston was doing a photo shoot for them and they then brought out the MI-24 and were going to do its monthly run which I didn't have time to wait and see. Things are coming along quite well for the Fly-In next month......

I was out at the CAF/DFW Wing Lancaster, Texas hangar last Saturday. Plans for the "Warbirds on Parade" event are coming along nicely. The B-24 has sold enough rides to be locked in to attending (as much as anything is "locked in" in the warbird world!) and the P-40 is now scheduled to attend as well. The R4D will (cross fingers!) be there as well, it has been having some sorely needed structural repair done. The Corsair should be there also, as far as I am aware. Some other interesting planes were mentioned as possible attendees, I suppose we will just have to wait to see on the day. Along with a classic car show going on, it should be a good time.

I took these pictures a couple of months ago, but the three aircraft pictured should be there on that day.

If it is not already there, put September 5th at Lancaster, Texas airport on your calendar!
