I just checked the website and it looks as though there will be a show again this year. Great news!

Does anyone know about potential a/c aside from the Russell Collection?

Unless CWH changes the dates of the regular Father's Day event I would say that there likely will be nothing from the museum on display there. However, that doesn't mean nothing from the museum will show, possibly just flybys. I'll keep you updated if I hear anything. Other than that, don't know anything yet.

The Russell Group show is over and it was a fine weekend with the big event being a fly by each day by the Lancaster., as well as the Belle from Geneseo flown well by Rob Gilman.
For me, I got to fly a Harvard and the Spitfire MK IX.
All are back safe.

It was indeed a great show, thanks to the pilots, staff and the Russell Group for a fine show. As usual, it was an honour and a pleasure to hear Charley Fox's commentary.

The formation flying of two spits, a hurricane, 109 and the Lanc was the type of thing us plane buffs can only dream of!

Bill, what days were you flying the spit?

Okay, somebody help me out here. Half way through the morning I was approached by a female volunteer at Russell's place. She told me I had to register at the main tent. My crime? I have a 400 mm lens. When I asked her what it was about she gave me some story about all big lens photogs had to register then she said something about copyright and commercial stuff. I told her my photos were for personal use only, she said it did not matter.

Now, I remember Dave C. having an issue some time back about images he had shot for Russell. I am sure the two are related somehow.

If there is anyone here from the Russell Group who would like to explain this assinine position or someone who has Eddie's ear, I sure would love to get their perspective and reasoning for this ridiculous bit of control freak behaviour.

So did you register? Did you have to sign a form? If so do you remember what was on it or better yet did you keep a copy? I would be interested in seeing it.

I did not register nor will I if asked to at some point again in the future. I will leave the airport before I sign that type of document. Plenty of spots around the airfield to get shots from, some would be better than on site I figure.

LOL welcome to the Russell group Jeff. From my dealings with them last year, they feel that any images of their aircraft taken at the show are theirs. This year I layed low and avoided them, I was going to cheap out and just shoot the show from across the road, but i like to support our local collectors and payed both days to help support the show, also i was not lugging around a 600 F4 like last year.

Did you sign the agreement?

Jeff if you want to talk more about this feel free to shoot me a e-mail at cheezzmk9@sympatico.ca and we can get together on the phone and ill explain what i know.

Cheers Dave C
