Reading Air Show

Thu Jan 22, 2009 9:05 am

The Mid Atlantic Air Museum at Reading, Pa is having their 19th annual WWII weekend 5-7 June, 2009. This is one of the best around. It is generally acknowledged to be the largest WWII military vehicle show east of the big muddy. Also, a great L Bird show with usually about 10 showing up.

We'll be going again when the P-61 flies. Not before. Various reasons.

Reading Air Show

Hey Mudge

Wassamatta, you don't like the food? I go for the Sutlers anyway. Also, they know how to treat their airplane drivers.

Bunker Hill, eh? I was a Ranger at Harpers Ferry for about 15 years. I'm flying out of Frederick. Flew out of there today in fact.

If you don't mind flying in an L-4, give me a shout some time.

Yeah .....Mudge in a L-4, I wanta see that!!!! I'll bring my shoehorn.

Fri Jan 23, 2009 9:49 pm

Well...I said "various reasons" and they'll remain "various" 'cause no matter what I say about the MAAM show, somebody's gonna' get their knickers in a knot.

Is a L-4 smaller than a J-3? If not, I'll fit.

Ahem... I was trying to be polite. I have never met Mudge and would not presume to make that sort of judgement.

Leave us not be nasty.

Only problem I have with Reading is the weather. It is either pouring rain or Sunny and 100 degrees with 95% humidity. Of which the former seems to keep the birds away. Come to think of it WW2 Weekend would make a great October show.

Anyway, I'll be there. I have never met another WIXer in person. So hopefully this will be the show.

I've been to all but I think 2 of the MAAM events. While the weather has been a concern the last 5-6 years, that's only 33% of the events. Normally the first week in June is not overly hot or wet, and it's the D-Day anniversary, so I'd be for keeping it when it is, and praying more for good weather. Keep in mind, "global warming" is dead (realistically, but not politically, sadly), so this year the weather will be superb. Trust me!

Double-post, oops. Thought I'd lost the connection.

Anyway, Reading rocks.

I think D-Day weekend is a great time of year for a show like Rich said.
And, I always enjoy Reading, but last year was hot.
How hot was it?
This is what they did to cool off. 8)
