Wings Over Long Beach this weekend

Boeing C-17A “Globemaster III”
America’s last remaining in-production transport built at LGB. You will pass the production facility when entering Wings over Long Beach. This aircraft coming from the 729th Airlift Squadron, 452nd Air Mobility Wing at March ARB in Riverside. This aircraft will be open for free tours.
Role: Transport, heavy lift, short-field capability.
Arrival: Nov. 14, approximately 1:00 p.m.
Departure: Nov. 17, 10:00 a.m.

Boeing KC-135R “Stratotanker”
In service since 1957, this aircraft is a variant of the Boeing 707 and 720 series commercial airliners. Shorter and sleeker and re-engined years later, this aircraft is also coming from March ARB.
Role: Aerial refueling and transport.
Arrival: Nov. 14, approximately 1:00 p.m.
Departure: Nov. 16, 5:00 p.m.

Boeing B-52H “Stratofortress”
In its 56th year of operation, the B-52 is a prime example of engineering longevity. As a long-range bomber, it adds to the three-pronged defense of our nation today. Coming from the 23rd Bomb Squadron at Minot, ND, this will be a rare occasion to view this historic aircraft up close.
Role: Long-range bomber.
Arrival: Nov. 14 approximately 4:00 p.m.
Departure: Nov. 17 9:30 a.m.

Lockheed Martin F-16C “Viper”
Also known as the “Fighting Falcon”, the F-16 has been a stalwart fighter in the Air Force inventory. Two of these will be joining us from the 144th Fighter Wing (CA ANG) out of Fresno and detached to March ARB for aerial interdiction in SoCal.
Role: Air defense.
Arrival: Nov. 14, approximately 1:00 p.m.
Departure: Nov. 17, estimated 9:30 a.m.

GAAS MQ-1 Predator UAV
Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (remote control) from the 163rd Reconnaissance Wing at March ARB in Riverside.
Role: Aerial reconnaissance and battle-field intelligence.
Arrival: Truck and assemble. Prohibited from flying in Los Angeles airspace.

North American AT-6D
USAAF AT-6D serial 44-80911 sold to the US Navy (designation SNJ-5). Sent to Japan Special Defense Forces in 1957. Acquired as scrap by Warbirds West of Compton Airport in 1978 and restored in 1979. Bought by John Collver in 1980, based at Torrance Airport, and a regular on the airshow circuit as “War Dog”.
Role: Scout/Trainer
Arrival: Nov. 14, 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
Departure: Nov. 16, 5:00 p.m.

Douglas DC-3
Owned by Catalina Flying Boats, Inc. at Long Beach Airport, these historical aircraft are regularly seen over the Harbor daily on their way to Catalina Island. Nicknamed the “Gooney Bird”, we are honored to have a Douglas aircraft present and it is a key element of our Wings over Long Beach logo.
Role: Cargo and passenger transport.
Arrival: Nov. 14 Tow Departure: Nov. 16 Tow

North American P-51D “Mustang”
“Mustang Sally”, aircraft #44-74494 based at LGB. Beautifully restored and airworthy. A varied history with owners in Canada and the UK, this aircraft flew in the film “Patton” and was a racer at one point.
Role: Long range escort fighter and troop support.
Arrival: Tow Departure: Tow

N2S-3 Stearman
This beautiful aircraft, based at Compton Airport, will be offering scenic and aerobatic rides for WOLB attendees. In Navy colors, these primary trainers were also designated PT-17’s in the Army Air Corps.
Role: Primary trainer
Arrival: Nov. 14, 4:00 p.m. Departure: Nov. 16, 5:00 p.m.

Civilian Aircraft
Flight schools, aircraft sales organizations, and local flying clubs will be displaying a number of aircraft from companies like Cessna, Piper, Diamond, Mooney, and more.
Role: Trainers, historical, recreational, commercial.
Arrival: Nov. 14, various times. Departure: Nov. 16, various times.

F-16 Engine Trailer
To attract and engage teens interested in becoming aviation mechanics, this customized display trailer features a real F-16 engine. Retired from service, this high-tech engine has been modified to be fully operable at a reduced, fan-friendly speed. This mobile display also showcases the specialized tools used to maintain the engines as well as informative posters and video.

OC Chopper
See a custom motorcycle from the world-famous OC Chopper factory in New York that was inspired by fighter jet technology!

Kid’s Zone
A variety of activities for youngsters including non-flying rides in the 1/8th scale C-17 and the mini F-16’s.
