Here is a Warbird event that is not only fun, but for a great kids charity. This Sat., Oct. 4 at Centennial Airport , APA, in South Denver about 5pm, at TAC Air, which is the ist FBO you come to on the right as you are driving in on when going south off Arapahoe Road.
It is by the Morgan Adams Foundation, named after a little girl who was taken by cancer. Her parents, grieved, but then they did even more. They started this charity even in her name and since then have raised hundreds of thousands of $$ to fight child's brain cancer. Better even than just good intentions, or a good effort, they have had some real success. In about 5 years the research had changed the fatality rate from about 70% to now about a 60% survival rate and some permanent cures.
They have some of the finest warbirds, they have had my Spitfire, Capt. Eddie's Firefly. Jack Cronin's T-6, Joe T.'s P-51, and others. They have rides for sale usually in B-25, DC-3, police helicopters, etc. as well as auction items like hotel or golf or restaurant packages, all sort of gifts, etc. There is warbird flying before dinner, then the dinner is catered by some of Denver's popular restaurants. Plenty to eat and drink, and if that is not enough they have a couple dozen of the finest vintage classic and race cars. Tickets are $125, by reservation at 303 758-2130, or on line. This is first class and a nice place to take a lady you are trying to impress, lot's of attractive folks. This ain't a few guys with greasy jeans eatin hot dogs. And I'd be there if Texas wasn't playing Colorado in Boulder at the same time.
