Pearl Harbor Survivors Reunion - Fredericksburg, TX

Tue Sep 09, 2008 8:54 am

This is for the Pearl Harbor survivors reunion on Dec 6, 7 at Fredericksburg where they are expecting many warbirds for static display and flyover on Dec 6th.

The CenTex Wing is possibly going to take the Kate and P-39, as well at Billy Parker's replica Zero. The Yellow Rose Squadron will be having their
Christmas Party at the Hangar Hotel that Saturday, as well. Hopefully the B-25 will be back in the air by then!

This is what the CenTex Wing got:

To All who want to help honor the Survivors of Pearl Harbor

Pearl Harbor Brief

The Pearl Harbor Survivor's Association (PHSA) will hold their bi-annual
reunion in Fredericksburg 4-8 December 2008. The National Museum of the Pacific War, Admiral Nimitz Foundation and the City of Fredericksburg will be hosting this event with numerous co-sponsors. This is a great honor and privilege, to pay tribute to these icons of the 'greatest generation'.

The following is a brief outline of their activities during that time frame.

· Plans are to meet primary convoy of PHSA arrivals at the Gillespie
County line by the Sheriff's Dept for a "whistles and lights" entry, to be
joined by Police, Fire Dept, at the City Limits for a "Parade" down Main Street, right at City Hall, right on Austin, right on Washington to their registration and hotels. We will work on having the school band greet them "on site".

· Parade will be a lighted "evening parade".

· Flyover will take place just before the beginning of the Memorial
Service.

Note to Pilots

We want to have as many WWII Pacific Area Aircraft as possible. We would like the aircraft in place on Sat., Dec. 6, 2008 for static display to the public.

We will provide accommodations and a dinner at my place Sat. Night.

We will have an over-flight on Sunday, Dec. 7, just prior to 12:25 (the time here when Pearl was attacked). All aircraft are welcome to leave after this.

Any aircraft that has a support PX or sells rides is welcome to do these at
the event. There will be a large crowd and much national media coverage.

Cousin Ober is going to be running the ramp. He told me in Midland that it's looking like about 28 planes so far. I'll probably take the U-11 there and park it in a corner (since it wasn't even thought of in 1941), then help with the ramp. The Yellow Rose Squadron is having it's Christmas Party at the Hangar Hotel the evening of the 6th. Always a spirited game of Crud being played in the O'club.
