Hi All,

(Stumbled across the following while surfing...very sorry if old news.)

Apparently this 1:1 replica of an E16A1 was displayed at the Fuji-Q Amusement Park in June of 2017.

Mrs. K says for the right price I can have it for the back yard. Anyone know of its current whereabouts?

Interesting on several levels.
Odd airplane to build a replica of, and as the others have noted, pairing it with cartoon teenage girls.

Reminds me of the Hasagawa model kits "egg plane" caricature series. The boxes have similar girls in flight gear.
Also the kit maker has similar drawings on some of its car models.
I don't know if they are just a Hasagawa invention or based on a comic book or even Anime TV series?

I would investigate further but I don't read Japanese and a guy my age trolling the internet for cartoons like that comes across as slightly creepy. :)

"Fleet Girls" is an anime series. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kantai_Co ... (TV_series)

There are several anime and manga series involving vintage airplanes, and usually teen girls as well. A current manga is "Shidenkai no Maki." It involves -- never mind, it's too stupid to type. Read here https://mangarock.com/manga/mrs-serie-222178

Hasegawa makes special issues of its model kits for six or eight anime/manga series the last time I counted, under its "Creator Works" line.

Beyond weird.

Teenage girls driving tanks like they're a bunch of Valley girls driving to be mall in pastel Toyotas.

My, you have got to love Japanese pop culture, always something unexpected/humorous/weird.
