I may be reading that wrong, but he appears to be saying the aircraft was in a 90deg bank, while flying straight.

I think I'd triple all his height references and such, but it sounds like a turning stall / spin, but I'm guessing there's video out there somewhere that will clarify.

SAN ANTONIO PATRIOT GUARD RIDERS

MISSION CONFIRMED

"STANDING FOR THOSE WHO STOOD FOR US"
"RIDING WITH RESPECT"

SHORT NOTICE

US AIR FORCE/WWII

The family of Mr. Vincent Losada, a US Air Force WWII Veteran, requests the presence and participation of the San Antonio Patriot Guard at the services and graveside rendering of military honors of their loved one.

More than 70 years after Vincent Losada braved the horror of combat in the nose of a B-17 Flying Fortress during World War II, the 93-year-old veteran lost his life Saturday riding in a plane he would have seen slicing through the air in his battles against the Nazis.

Losada was a passenger in a P-51D Mustang piloted by 73-year-old Cowden Clark Ward Jr. The two men were killed when the vintage fighter crashed into the parking lot of a Fredericksburg apartment complex during an air show.
