Whenever N4819E has been talked about there has been made comments about a broken wing spar which has kept it ground bound for all these years. Do you know anything about that Matt?

Many many thanks to everyone for their comments and suggestions, so much appreciated. Have chased up a few already and have spoken to Air Spray who were very helpful indeed, but had nothing to offer.

Even though it seems that I am trying to do myself out of my own job, I did suggest to the Museum that an actual airframe would be more ideal and cheaper than a fiberglass copy, but they in their correspondence with me, are adamant that they require a model. I would have presumed that with them being in Florida, a real one would survive longer than a GRP copy?

Problem for us is that in order for us to create one, it would have to be from scratch as there aren't any in the UK. A nose, but not a complete airframe. So, would be CAD drawing, foam model, wooden plug and then mold from that. And then all the detailing too. A vast project, a time-consuming project. I'm not saying that we couldn't do it, we can build virtually anything - just done 5 F-35 Ground Trainers for the Royal Navy, it just would be a very costly exercise. But, if the Museum wants that and has the necessary funds, then we would be delighted to take on the job.

They already have an option on a P-51D, the paperwork was sent out yesterday. If this is refused, can see the Invader going the same way. But who knows? Could be some very rewarding times ahead.

Again thanks to everyone for their help.

Best wishes,

Martin

Gun nose, already been outdoors for decades and never crashed, and was externally complete, so... good for a static?

Is this the one at Aero Trader or does he own 2?

I had never heard anything about a broken spar, the only thing I had heard about it was the last time they tried to fly they started to take off roll with the nose wheel torque links disconnected, the nosewheel shimmied so much it scared them to the point they never tried to fly it again.

Personally I think this museum should try and acquire a real one. They seem to pop up now and again. Personally I'd rather see you guys focus on more rare / extinct types like the B-24, B-26, Typhoon, Stuka, Kingfisher, P-51A, etc.

He has two, as far as I know; last I recall, 44-35590/Nightmare was supposed to be a parts source for the flyer? I'm not on Facebook, so could someone who is please ask him?

Isn't the Museum of Aviation at Warner Robins looking to have this one 're-assigned'?

They recently acquired this one-

My thoughts entirely. The cost of shipping such a large aeroplane would be very high. So, in this instance, I am trying to persuade them to go down that route. Of course, we would love the project (I think!) but this time hoping that they go for the real thing.

As to the others, we have had interested parties asking for Stukas and a Typhoon recently, and are always here for really anything else. We get some weird requests, all that we strive to produce. We love a challenge, the Invader would be one, but if we did build one, there probably wouldn't be a viable market for more as so many real ones exist.

Emailed them a few days ago, as was told by a friend of mine that this was the case. Will see what they say. Thanks for the post.

Being de-registered is not a good sign, unless it has gone overseas.

Update:

We have had a very sincere reply from the Museum at Robins AFB. They couldn't have been more helpful and have given contact details for the Florida Museum so that perhaps they can give the Invader a new home. And at the same time enquired about one of our creations for themselves.

Hopefully, now the ball may start rolling as to the aeroplane finding a new home, and if they still want a plastic model then we will do all that we can to make that a possibility. Will keep you informed of all future developments.

Best wishes to all,
