Hello,
I,am Dennis from Holland. For a long time i have been reading about crashes during WW2 in my area (south-west of Holland). After the reading is done I go out with my metal detector to try and get some artifacts from the crash sites. Now some year ago I was contacted by the owner of a John Deere dealership near where i live (he had heard about what i was doing on research ) and he was telling me his father had passed away and he was clearing the attic. He told me there where some WW2 aircraft parts he wanted to throw away..............!
I went over to him straight away and was thinking this cant be right.......all i will find there are John Deere parts. He handed me over a big pallet with parts in boxes and baggs. I could see straight away most of it where aircraft parts and WW2 !
He told me his father was involved in dismantling downed and crashed aircraft during WW2 (as beeing a John Deere dealer he had tools etc etc) and he sometimes took some parts home and did hide them on this attic. All his father told him was that the most of the parts where engine parts from a fighter plane that came down near a village close to me called Nisse.
I took the parts home and checked all of it. The parts seemed to be from a Napier Sabre and after some investigation it proved right.
The plane it belonged to was Hawker Typhoon 1B with serial MN 252 (registration BR-T), plane was hit by flak en performed an emergency landing.
There are some real big heavy parts like the complete accessory drive unit, starter motor, magneto, ditributor, starter drive unit, etc etc.
The parts are in good condition considering there age and history.
Thinking of selling, would there be a market for these parts ?
