I believe the OD B-17s posted on the last page are from the movie "The War Lover." The faked-up armament and non-standard markings are a dead giveaway.

Hey, Robbie, the F4U-4 Corsairs on the Princeton CV-37 appear to be planes from VF-193 'Ghostriders' Korea 1952. Even though VF-671 from NAS Atlanta was called to active duty during the Korean Conflict they did not serve in the Pacific only the Mediterranean Sea. If they were reserve aircraft doing carrier quals for their two week summer camp they would not have had bomb/mission marks on the fuselage and they would have had the Orange band applied around the aft fuselage .

Fantastic thread with some great photos, many of which I've never seen before. I'm gonna have to call "fake" on the Do-217 pic though. Almost guarantee that one is a plastic models photoshopped into a picture. Also, the Corsair shot is really nice but I wondering if that one has been colorized. If it is it's been done very well but it just does not look quite "right" to my eye for some reason.

Corsair shot just looks like a nice, deep saturation KODACHROME 4X5 slide. You know, the kind of stuff your digital can never get.

The Dornier... yeeeeahh... nice try, kinda, to whoever made that one.

The Corsair shot looks to be genuine color... it does have a wongo look to it, though. Could have been scanned from an older printed source... the color in alotta older books and rags has a weird look to it. It really depends on the printing process used, as well as the film. Not everyone shot Kodachrome and not all color film is created equal.

An awful lot of Nat Geos during WW2 had a weird, semi washed out appearance to the color shots, not sure if it was the film, camera, or the printing process on clay based slick paper.
