Not at present, and I don't know if they now have any plans to put her indoors. She will be hoisted on the deck in June.

Cheers,
Richard

Enterprise will be placed on the Intrepid's deck in an inflatable building till they "someday" build a seperate building for it. Last I heard, the building will cost $85 million. I wonder if there is some clause in the donation regarding how long it can stay in the inflatable building? When I was at the Air Force Museum last week, I asked how much more was needed to be raised for the new addition being planned. This new addition will house the space collection and would have included a Shuttle. I was told $7 million.

A picture of Enterpise in the inflatable building can be seen at the link.

The NMUSAF as well as the Museum of Flight had spots to move the shuttle indoors in climate controlled buildings. The new building at wright patt is planned to be opened in 2014. NASA screwed the pooch.

A lot of bandwidth has been devoted to those who question the Enterprise going to a museum with no means to build a building for her as of yet (and the USAF museum willing to move things around, not to mention a purpose-built building to house a shuttle already built and empty in Seattle right now).
I'll only say one thing on the subject:
"The Memphis Belle before the USAF took her back."
God, I hope I'm wrong... :(

I'm very skeptical of the shuttle being lifted from a barge and placed on the Intrepid inside a tent next to salt water. It's bad enough the Concorde is sitting there exposed. As big a fan as I am of the space program and of the Shuttles, I think a giant tent on the Intrepid is going to be an eyesore and detract from the appearance of the carrier. I'd rather see Enterprise stay in storage until the Intrepid museum can fund and build a suitable museum to house her. My two cents...

What?! I have not kept up on where each of the Orbiters would be going other than Discovery since Dulles is just 2.5 hours from my home. I can't quite see why a Space Shuttle should go on outdoor display on the deck of an aircraft carrier. Outside?! I shrug my shoulders and throw up my hands on this deal.

I don't agree with some of what the USAFM has done in the past, but they had the indoor room to house Enterprise, why not leave it there? What the f**k, Over?!

Can you imagine the crane set up just to get it up there??? What if it fell??? No doubt, seeing a big white balloon on a deck of a carrier?? The NYC smog must be getting to those people on the Intrepid.

My brother took this shot just yesterday, the lucky bugger drives past Dulles every day on his way home from DC...

Shots I took the last time I was there, I doubt the Enterprise will ever look this good again...
