The Cat Flight is the best yet, I'd like to see that. Other than that, I'd like to see some bombers, get the flying B-17's or B-25's, escorted by about 8 P-51's. That's totally doable. You could also get some TBM's escorted by the few Hellcats and Wildcats left, also doable.

O.P,

I remember a NWH show back in the Mid-80s (Ryan, Eric you can help me here) that had 6 B-17 the Lanc and B-25 all in the Air together along with 5 or 6 51.

Also for the 50th Anv. of the Memphis Belle they put 7 B-17 up for a fly over.

I've seen a few different types of the Cat flight. I think we will never se a complete Cat flight. Their are No F11 near Flying coundition nore is their any Panthers or Cougars airworthy anymore.

It looks like the F-14 won't participate an any cat flights before too long. The Navy wants to phase it out and replace it with the Super Hornet, which has all the advantages of being able to carry half the weapons a little bit more than half the distance.

Does anyone know the last time an F9F flew?

DJ,

I don't think the Navy will get rid of all of their 14 not quite yet at least.

For the F9F flight, the last Military one had to be some time in the Mid to Late 60s, they were used at China Lake till the mid-70s as Drones.

For Warbirds the only one I know that was airworthy was the one that the Whinnington Brothers had and it was lost over the Gulf of Mexico with two on board. No one really knows what happen to it.

I think that Kermit has one that could be put back into the Air and their is another sitting someplace but I just can't remember right off hand.

There was a complete F9F project for sale last year, Aerocrafters or Aerotraders, forgot, I do remember the name, Steve Pennington, I guess he owns the place, and I've seen some of their restorations on the internet. I'll look it up. That was a complete F9F. I hope someone restores it. It looked nice even in pieces.

Rob, I swear at least half of your posts give me high blood pressure. If you actually come up with that photo of a surviving SC-1 Seahawk at Pensacola my heart doesn't stand a chance.

Now where did I put that outdated medication...

Dan, You're the man....man. I was thinking I was one of the only people on the face of the earth who like liked the SC-1/2. There's gotta be one laying around somewhere waiting for us to show up and make it right.

Don't forget engaging targets at half the range, big selling point there
