Well, I have made the drive from Thunder to Geneseo with only two roadside aviation attractions along the way. I wanted to stop in at Cleveland to see the two F-4s but traffic and being a little behind schedule made me pass them by this time.

This is a Vietnam Memorial in Monroe Michigan. It looks a whole lot better then my last visit a few years ago.

Somehow I got lost between Salamanca and Geneseo and by surprise came across this F-4 at the Hinsdale Legion. The weather gods allowed me five minutes of shooting before the skies opened up and the rain came.

The rain has stopped so I’m heading out for a visit to Geneseo.

Happy Landings,

Eric

Outstanding Viet Nam memorial with the choppers and the beautiful granite memorials! Probably the best I've ever seen! :!:

The Phantom looks like it's being well cared for, too!

Cheers!

Ok this is really cool. I've been becoming more interested in roadside aircraft/relics for a while now.

Scott? Maybe there should be a seperate page on the warbird registry on roadside aircraft and aircraft on poles. Imagine collecting photos and info on all the roadside aircraft in the states?! :D

Lets post all the aircraft we have found. Maybe this will help Scott out. And curious as to what is really out there. :!: :D  8)

Here are my few that I have:

MACE MGM-13B missle located in Mildred Pennsylvania.
Image

F-15 Eagle located outside the Wings of Eagles center in Elmira NY.

-No picture but there is an UH-1 Huey at the VFW post in Towanda, Pa.

-No picture but there is a Curtiss C-46 displayed outside the entrance to the Glenn Curtiss museum. Located in Hammondsport, NY.

-Believe there is a F-102 gate guard at Fort Indian Town Gap in Pennsylvania.

Non aviation related:

-Sherman M4A3 76mm located in Waverly NY.
-M60 located at American Legion South Towanda, Pa.
-M60 located in Elysburg, Pa.

I was looking for a thread to post these pics -- shots from outside the American Helicopter Museum in West Chester, PA. I'll leave it up to the rotorheads among you to identify the different types represented.

I stumbled onto this by accident on the grounds of the Washington Navy Yard -- it's an anchor from the USS ENTERPRISE (CV-6)

A few more shots taken in the parking lot across the street from the National World War II Museum in New Orleans -- showing the Higgins-built PT-305 recently returned to the city of her birth and awaiting restoration.

I'm always keeping an eye out for roadside birds. If you go over to http://www.modelingmadness.com there's a feature called "Planes On Poles." I've made several contributions. Here's a CF-5 I snapped last week..it's next to a Holiday Inn just off 401 in Trenton, Ontario (they even have the nav lights wired up to shine at night.)

One of the nicest upkept gate gaurds I ever saw is the F-86 infront of the EAA museum. It always looks great, has working recognition lights, and is the first thing we see that announces to us that we have arrived at Air Venture.

Just a reminder you can find these gems via the Locator...

http://www.aerialvisuals.ca//Locator.php

...there is a map link for each location.

If you know of something that is not listed there, then let me know via...

http://www.aerialvisuals.ca//LocatorForm.php

Do you want to find locations of displayed, stored or active aircraft? Then start with the The Locator.
Do you want to find or contribute to the documented history of an aircraft? If so then start with the Airframes Database.

Not an aircraft in the sense of most of the others here.

This is a full-size "statue" of the Gloster-Whittle E28/39, the first British jet aircraft. It's mounted in the middle of a roundabout in Lutterworth, the town where Whittle's company Power Jets was based.
