Man, This D-70 never fails to impress me. I spent a few hours shooting a motorcross meet tonight and the camera was flawless. Check the images at http://www.airic.ca/html/motorcross.html

Eric,

Your Nikon D70 is very impressive and no question you are a top photographer.
But as we've discussed, Canon ain't too bad either. I do like the continual auto focus of your D70 better than what's on the DRebel.
This shot was from the pits at practice on Saturay for the NASCAR Pocono 500 with the DRebel. Speed approaching 200mph

Nice one Bill, I'm thinking of getting a Digital Rebel as well (I have an Elan IIE at the moment), I take it you like the Rebel?

I have used the digi rebel several times and think it is a very nice digital SLR at a even nicer price. Buy it with the lens as you will need the wider angle but all your existing lens will fit on it. The only problem is you can't just choose continuos auto focus as it only works in the sports mode. In the sports mode you loose freedom to shoose shutter speed as the camera chooses it for you.

Just want to let everyone know, Eric has been a BIG help to me trying to figure out digital photography. He has answered alot of my questions and given advise on post processing in photoshop.

The quality of my Digital Rebel photos is getting so much better than my film results ever were. But I still have trouble getting all the shots I want at airshows (or with other fast moving objects). If your subject isn't moving the DRebel AF is good, but as stated it lacks programable continual autofocus which will track fast movers. The Canon 10D has it and so does the Nikon D70. These 2 are probably a good choice for airshow photography. The Nikon D70 also has instant on and spot metering something the Canon DRebel does not.

2nd, and much more importantly- it's great to see your photo talents applied to this sport!

check out the premier publication- RacerX Illustrated to see how you stack up against the talent involved there- I'm sure you could jump right in and make an impact (and a few $ too!)

Thanks for the remarks and I realized it was motocross to late. After 10 hours of work, 2 hours of driving and two beers I get kind of fuzzy when I'm working on the website. I will check out Racer X, sound cool

I'm wondering if it is worth the expense to get the image stabilized 70-200 lens for the D-70? At about $1500, it costs more than the camera body, but I haven't been satisfied to date with the sharpness of the ground to air results of my DSC F-707.

Any thoughts?

Just remember that as long as you get compatible bodys the lens can stay with you regardless of whether a digital body, a film body or an upgraded body.

that is why decent lenses always seem to cost an arm and a leg while the body don't cost anywhere near as much.
