The special education school I volunteer at was recently the victim of a scam by a company called Liberty Lighting, from Maryland. What they do is call you and say they are confirming an order and ask if they can use you as a point of contact. When you say sure, they promptly send you a box of light bulbs that don't fit any of your light fixtures and cost them about ten bucks, and a bill for 600$.
I was the guy they called, and I clearly stated that I had no idea what size lighting the school used, that I had no idea who did the ordering or how to get a PO for them, and that I was just a volunteer but that they could put my name on the box if we had ordered something because I would be the one putting the lights in. How the heck can I order light bulbs when I don't even know what kind or size bulbs we use?Thankfully the school has an in-house lawyer who can deal with these bozos.
Anyway, if you happen to work at a small business, and Liberty Lighting calls, be sure to tell them I said hello before you hang up on them.
