I'm looking for a new printer and I'm wondering what's the best home printer for printing out photo's from digital. My old HP printer just doesn't print very good quality anymore and I'm tired of going to CVS. Thanks!

Compare the cost for the ink refills. A printer that will take individual color cartridges will end up costing you less in the long run. I don't know if they still make them, but there were a few brands that made units that took 6 color cartridges. They had spectacular prints. The Canon PIXMA Pro line has some that use 12 different inks. The PIXMA line seems to be pretty well rated, but is pricey...350$ and up.

Try mpix.com and it will make you think twice about getting a printer. I still have my Canon Pro 9500 MkII in the box waiting for my new desk. I ordered 2 prints this past Sunday and I handed them out yesterday after receiving them in the mail. They really do great work and back it up with there service...

Photo printers are printers designed to print good quality photographs on photo paper. They have many nozzles and have printing droplets as small as 1 Pico liter. Many have digital meter readers or memory cards that print without the help of a computer. Some of the latest printers can even print directly from a camera or from a camera in a docking station or "PictBridge" that supports this feature. Before choosing a digital photo printer, assess your needs. Do note that photo-specialized printers may not be good at any other kind of printing, and even if these do print, it will be very expensive. When you buy a printer, keep in mind the running costs, including paper, ink, or toner. These costs are frequent, and they will have to be considered. It should also offer waterproof and long-lasting prints. Usually, thermal-dye printers have a clear over coating to shield the image, while inkjet printers are usually waterproof.
