WTF????? I hope she gets a really sharp lawyer and winds up owning Suffolk County, the County clowns office, and gets everyone involved fired and prevented from holding law enforcenment jobs anywhere.
This reads like a bad episode of 'Locked up Abroad' and the Police wonder why they get absolutely no respect, the DOJ is monitoring the local Nazi Bund....er.... Seattle Police Department because of their 'kick 'em first' policies.

There are two sides to every story. What you are reading is from her lawyer's so take it with a grain of salt. She was detained as long as she was because they found an AR-15 and shotgun in her trunk. Granted they were unloaded and secured albeit legal, but not a good thing to have on hand when making yourself conspicuous at an active AFR base. She also had a history of wandering on to the base and asking questions. At one point she kept persisting on an answer what was in some stored 55 gal drums. She had posted some conspiracy theories online that the airport was a "FEMA Camp" of something nuts like that.

Don't care weither she asked questions about 55 gallon drums or what, I hope her Lawyer gets her the 70 million. They need to sue the Feds also for not stopping the illegal detention. Just cause you have a badge don't make you right. If she was a left wing liberal she would already have a medal.

I got stopped by an Officer in my town as I was taking photos of a blooming Magnolia tree about 3 years ago! I was on the public sidewalk, but someone (not the Police) had called and reported me to the Police! We had a good laugh, and BTW, he never got out of the car.

I have been photographing at night for years all over the place. The only incident I ever encountered was one snowy night in Avalon NJ when I was shooting on the boardwalk around 3am in the morning. Cop pulled up, asked me who I was, what I was doing and if I lived in town. I showed him some of the shots and we were all good. His only concern was why someone was wandering around a closed boardwalk in the snow at that hour off season. I really question a lot of the people who get hassled, their attitude has alot to do with their treatment. For the most part law enforcement personal are just looking out for everyone's safety, but I am sure If I got smart with the cop that night I would have had trouble.

BTW the woman in this story allegedly had 250 rounds of 12 gauge ammo and the shotgun was in the passenger compartment and the AR-15 was in the trunk. Just remember there are 3 sides to every story, yours, mine and the truth.

Down here in Gods' country having a rifle. shotgun, ammo in a vehicle is not against the law and is required of everyone over 18 almost. Don't see anything wrong there.

People forget that the police and government officials can detain anyone for any reason except a member of congress, the president, members of SCOTUS for a perod of time no longer then 24 hours without being formally charged.

I wish i could have read the article, but from the information disused so far. The women was acting in a manner that would make me take extra precautions and error on the side of public safety.

In most states, as my understanding, you cant carry a weapon with the ammo in the same area of the car unless you have a permit to conceal carry. In NY they are like finding Wonka Bar Gold Tickets. Texas is a different planet in that respect. (That's meant with absolutely no disrespect)
