I have what may be an instrument for a WW II B-17 Bomber. It is in
the original fiberglass box and has the following label:
Sextant Periscope, type number 1426C-05 manufactured by Kollsman Instrument Corp. in Elmhurst New York.
If this would be of interest
to anyone trying to restore a B-17 please contact me at gene100@mac.com

never saw a periscope on a b-17. however some ww 2 raf bombers had them. i had 1 from a wellington, although the periscope was british made. but then keep in mind we sold tons of equipment / accessories to our allies too. or you may have a drift sight, can you post a picture?? best, tom

Didn't the navigator on a B-17 use a periscope of some nature? Might be the drift meter?
