I am cleaning out my shed and am starting to scrap parts. please look at my previous posts to see what is still left. Make me an offer. So far the local scrap metal merchant is paying $100 per ton for steel and a bit more for mixed aluminum.
thanks
Jim

Please don't I would love to buy it all but I'm in Aus so postage would blow me away. I'm sure there are plenty of people out there to buy it or donate to museum. Remember this stuff ain't being made anymore.

Understandable
Hopefully Eric can save all the stuff. I'm sure offering it to museums would be an idea.

Eric Miller at Project Warbird has elected to save all my parts from the scrappers. Both he and I are pleased with the deal.

I will continue to work on my Lockheed Lodestar RV trailer and bed & breakfast. My buddy called it the Fuse-a-Lodge.

I could use some sort of instrument panel for the Lodestar.
thanks

Excellent You've done a great thing for the Warbird community Eric. Glad a deal could be made and this stuff saved.

ProudKerman,

I do everything that I can to save our aviation history. I'm so glad that I have the chance to save these items and get them to projects that need them. By doing this, it helps support restoration's of other Warbirds. It is a Win, Win all around.

Keep an eye on http://www.projectwarbird.com to see these parts listed. When someone buys a part it helps me save more items in the future. None of the money raised by Project Warbird goes into my pocket. It all goes to restoration projects or to save projects, parts or artifacts.

Your site is fantastic and you are certainly doing a good thing. I'm going around scrap yards in QLD, Aus to save what I can but there must be a lot more stuff in America to save. I would buy stuff in the US but postage would kill me. If you ever get a collection of Beaufighter or Airacobra parts I would buy them and bulk postage otherwise I'll just keep collecting what I can. :)

Eric drove all the way from Asheville to western Montana to pick up my parts pile. The last 80 miles were through a blizzard at night. We spent 3 hours loading stuff from my garage and greenhouse in Missoula. Was cold and sloshy on Monday. Then drove another 80 miles to Hot Springs for round two. Pulled into town at dusk and watching the snow squall descend the mountains. I plugged in a flood light and attacked the next pile. About 30 5 gallon buckets full of small bits and bolts and nuts and old spark plugs. Also damp boxes of sheet metal, engine parts, electric widgets, wheels, rudders, flaps, aelerons. The canvas garage collapsed last winter and was covered with a large, now tattered tarp. We chased out the feral cat colony that lived in the 10 x 20 tent and started loading some more. The truck was stacked about 3 feet deep by this time and to the top of the 30 inch sideboards. After another two hours of lugging buckets the tent was empty and so were our energy reserves. Had a few beers and a burger in Hot Spring and called it a night.
Woke to zero degree clear skies at 7AM for round three. We pulled sheet metal and a dozen wheels out of yet another shed. I abandoned Eric to the task of strapping down the load which was not about 4 feet high in his trailer and up to the cab in his truck. After a hearty American breakfast of eggs, soggy hash browns and toast, Eric headed east, toward about 1200 miles of winter roads and sub zero weather.
I salute Eric and Project Warbird for saving 2 tons of stuff from environmental degradation and conversion into Chinese steel. Well Done.
