Free Aeroshell 6 and 14 grease gun cartridges, soon to exp.

Tue Feb 03, 2009 11:32 am

Hey,
I was in our parts room earlier, and our greases are getting old.
We are rotating our stock and have a few cartriges that will expire soon.
We cant use them in our CRS after they expire.
I couldnt see them go into the waste bin, I can ship them if you want.

4 tubes of Aeroshell 6 unopened
5 tubes of Aeroshell 14 unopened

I can ship them if you want to pay shipping.
I would like to see them go to a museum for use on their aircraft, maybe.
They are boxed in a single box that weighs 10 lbs.
I dont have any plans to visit any local museums in the near future.

Let me know

K.L.

how & why does grease have an expiration date??

Wed Feb 04, 2009 5:51 pm

It is written into the MIL-Spec.

We had a base insp recently, and they will expire before our next one.
Our parts Mgr was going to toss them out, I hate seeing things get thrown away.

Imagine what my backyard would look like if I had one?

what a waste of tax payer $$$. i'm no petroleum chemist, but i thought grease had no shelf life. taxpayer money in the crapper again. no wonder the u.s. is biting the weinie. what waste lies beyond?? :x

You probably don't want to know about all the HAZMAT that expires due to shelf life.......or what only comes in a two quart kit that only gets a dollop used then tossed in the HAZWASTE bin because it's no good after it's been opened. Or how much it cost.

The problem is getting it, storing it then useing it. Common stuff we go through without it ever going bad. It's the not so common stuff that we have to stock because we might need it.....and it's our A$$ if it's not on the shelf and a critical flight is missed because a repair couldn't be done. We can't whistle up a delivery from supply either. They don't stock much any more.

Gotta love plastic airplanes

No taxpayer money here BTW. I work for an FBO in Bedford, MA.
I couldnt see it going to the waste bin if it can be used by somebody.
I guess Shannons green initiative has rubbed off on me a little.
She won the raffle at Trader Joes this past weekend for bringing her own bags.
The prize was a $25 gift bag, most of it was really good too!
