Looks great, unfortunately I can't afford it, but I had to ask- why does it have square C-47 windows in the outside photos, but round DC-3 windows on the inside?

Where is she located?

Thanks!
Robbie

Ben,

I believe that I have been to the airplane's location.

Is this place, WEST of the place where you and I met a couple of years back?

[I don't want to reveal the location, since you have not done so]

Saludos,

Tulio

Cool.

Yup, the guy had at AT-11 inside the hangar, the last time I was there; he told me that the Kansan was going to someone in California.

I did not shoot any pictures though.

Its a tatical decision to throw off our enemies. We take photos like these and allow them to slip into enemiy hands, To make them think we have double the aircraft, some with round windows, and some with sqaure!

It worked so well the TSA is requiring the aircraft have N - Numbers since the aircraft is different inside from the outside appearance!!!!!

Hope they didnt catch you taking these photos either, they might have shot you for safety of flight concerns!

Wiping the egg off!
Bill says they are round on the inside and square on the outside because the airliner companies wanted them that way. Something to do with the C54 having square ones.

I'd buy that, except for the fact that in the bottom picture, you can see through the lower corners of the pics! Also, it can clearly be seen the round windows are in square holes formed by the stringers and formers, but are through the skins...

I think Bill is pulling your leg... ;)

I live in Wichita, I've always wondered what is at Rantoul at Dodson Aviation. Any way to get a look around Dodson?

Whatever the reason. The AC pictures are of the same aircraft inside and out and at Rantoul,Ks.

Time to start wearing the egg again, I'm afraid... Look at the cockpit clearly visible in the interior cabin shot below. Same one which is in the cockpit shot in the middle...

Now look at the 4 engine throttle setup & fire handles in the wide cockpit seen in the photo. This is a C-54 cockpit: C-47 has only the two engines... And the cockpit is a good deal narrower as seen here:

Also, I don't believe the C-47 has the out of line window visible at the right aft part of the photo.

Not to belabor the point, but he did in fact mix up the pictures. They are not from the same aircraft!

Nice looking bird in any case ;)

How about looking about it like this. You are a good eye for pictures. Bill may have mixed up a photo or two. SO what! Bill Dempsay has a very good name in the AC world. Look all you want and say what you want. Just send the check. I like eggs and a little on my face will get licked off eventually.

Thanks to the good offices of Steve Dennis [The aviation-article-non-writer] I managed to visit Dodson a few years ago.

Of course, across the road from Dodson, you find the other neat stuff : )

Saludos,

Tulio
