I didn't get any sort of fear or even desperation from the actors.
Also, the British Army seemed very reserved...more like they were waiting at an underground station.
The beach seemed awfully free of litter/wreckage.
The British Army has come in for a lot of criticism over the years for its performance in WWII (aside from N Africa). This film just adds to that. I got the idea the entire Army was waiting for the Americans to eventually rescued them, then complain about the Americans coming late.
I saw the film with a retired Army General who is a history buff.
He was less impressed than I was.
